MEP since July 2019, Vice-Chair of the Committee on Budgets and Member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs. Before joining, the European Parliament, Mrs Marques was Vice-Chair of the Committee on European Affairs, Member of the Budgetary and Administrative Modernisation Committee and of the Temporary Monitoring Committee for the Negotiations on the MFF 2021-2027 at the Portuguese National Parliament. Between 2015 and 2017, she was State Secretary for European Affairs of the Portuguese Government.
Mrs Marques was also a Commission official from 1991 until 2015, and was Head of the European Commission Representation in Portugal between 2005 and 2011.
The Parliament will reject the multiannual financial framework unless there is an agreement on own resources, unless the necessary financial means are achieved.
