Maria Maltschnig is the director of the Karl-Renner-Institute, the political academy of the Austrian Social Democratic Party. She holds a degree in Socioeconomics of Vienna University and has worked previously for the Austrian Chamber of Labour, the Federal Ministry of Finance, and the Austrian Federal Railways. In 2016 she was head of the cabinet of the Austrian Chancellor.
